This life size marble statue is called Centaur Chiron. The father of Centaur Chiron was the second god-king Kronos, and the mother was Phyllora among the three thousand sea goddesses. This centaur is a half-brother to Zeus by blood, and thus possesses in itself the divinity of immortality.

Although Centaur Chiron’s appearance was that of a centaur, he did not actually belong to the centaur group. This would also explain why, unlike the centaur’s barbaric ferocity and debauchery, he instead showed a warm and intelligent side. Growing up, Centaur Chiron became a revered sage and lived in a cave in Piliwin. So instead of Prometheus being tied to a cliff to die, Prometheus was liberated, a practice that freed both parties. After his death, Centaur Chiron was lifted into the sky by Zeus and became the bow-wielding Sagittarius.
